The Fairly Calendar streamlines all aspects of reservation tracking and management. On the Calendar tab, you can view guest stays, create personal reservations, and block off dates for maintenance or personal use. Both you and your caretaker have shared access, ensuring your home is always ready for the next guest.
Navigating the Calendar
You can scroll backward to review your property’s reservation history or forward to block off future dates. Use this tool to manage availability, monitor upcoming check-ins, and plan personal stays.
Both homeowners and caretakers can view and update the calendar to coordinate cleaning and guest preparation.
Viewing Guest Reservations
All confirmed guest stays are displayed on your Calendar tab. To view details for a specific reservation, click on the booking in the calendar or on the right-hand panel.
From there, you can:
- View guest details: See guest name, contact info, and check-in/check-out dates.
- View payout details: Select “Show details” under the Owner Net Payout section to view an estimated breakdown (rent, fees, taxes, platform costs).
- Mark the home as clean: The caretaker typically marks the home as clean at checkout, triggering payment for cleaning services.
- Issue refunds: Full or partial refunds can be issued for rent, cleaning, or pet fees (minus any channel partner fees).
- Cancel a reservation: Avoid cancellations unless absolutely necessary — they can result in channel fees or lower listing performance.
If you cancel a reservation, block those dates immediately to prevent rebooking. If a guest requests cancellation, ask them to cancel directly — this avoids penalties and allows you to reimburse them if needed.
Making Personal Reservations
You can reserve your home for yourself or others directly from the Calendar by selecting unbooked dates.
- Reserving for yourself: These stays are free and will appear as “Owner Reservations.”
- Reserving for someone else: Enter the guest’s contact information so they receive check-in details automatically.
Your caretaker will not be prompted to clean after a personal reservation — coordinate directly if cleaning is needed.
To ensure consistency, always let your caretaker know about personal stays or maintenance blocks in advance.
Editing Personal Reservations
To adjust your reservation:
- Select the reservation from the Calendar.
- Click Edit to modify the check-in or check-out dates.
- Once a reservation has begun, you can only change the check-out date.
Using Blocks
Blocks are useful for preventing new reservations during specific timeframes.
- Block open nights: Prevent guests or owner reservations from being added to specific dates (for example, during maintenance).
- Overlapping blocks: Add a block to already reserved dates without canceling the guest’s booking. If the guest later cancels, the blocked dates remain unavailable.
Once blocked, affected dates appear shaded on your calendar.
Always block off unavailable dates well in advance — canceling an active guest reservation can result in platform fees and ranking penalties.
Proper use of your calendar keeps operations smooth, prevents double-bookings, and ensures caretakers stay in sync with your schedule.
